Students develop their control of language by reading and viewing a range of texts and by writing imaginative, interpretive and critical texts with clarity and accuracy for a range of purposes and audiences. Students engage with and explore literature of past and contemporary societies, as well as a range of spoken, visual, media and multimedia texts.
At Mammoth Learning, our academic tutors Liverpool teaching facility, focuses on building the foundations of English for your child at a young age so they can build a strong disciplinary routines from a young age. Introducing bad habits can be such a difficulty to rectify the older they age, hence why we put an emphasis on correct learning techniques at the early onset stage of schooling.
Students learn to develop clear and precise skills in writing, reading, listening, speaking, viewing and representing. For example, in developing writing skills, students learn about sentence structures, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and spelling.
Students study a range of texts including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, films, media, multimedia and digital texts. The texts give students experience of Australian literature and insights into Aboriginal experiences and multicultural experiences in Australia, and experience of literature from other countries and times including texts that provide insights about the peoples and cultures of Asia.
Students also study texts that give experience of cultural heritages, popular cultures and youth cultures, picture books, everyday and workplace texts, and a range of social, gender and cultural perspectives. Students experience Shakespearean drama in Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10).
Students develop their skills, knowledge and understanding so that they can use language and communicate appropriately, effectively and accurately for a range of purposes and audiences, in a range of contexts. They learn to think in ways that are imaginative, interpretive and critical. They express themselves and their relationships with others and the world, and reflect on their learning in English.
General Ability
For those planning to sit the NSW Selective Entry Test, General Ability is one of the sections covered. Frankly speaking, General Ability is typically involved in Mathematics in itself as opposed to be deemed a standalone subject. It tests for the student’s capacity to recognise relationships between numbers, words and letters as well as identifying patterns and trends. If unsure, feel free to drop by our Tuition Services Centre in Liverpool if you have any questions regarding educational concepts.
Furthermore, we cover General Ability within our Mathematics Syllabus rather than segregating the two as they share transferable skill sets and applied knowledge. One of the very few tutors Liverpool organisations in NSW to offer GA as a blended topic. A very well-rounded and holistic approach to Mathematics for added benefit.
Tutors Liverpool: Exam Preparation
Across a student’s schooling life, they will encompass a range of exams of varying weights and importance. National Exams from as early as Year 3 all the way to Year 12, however school tests can begin even earlier ie. classroom tests and so on. National or School-based exams, a child is credited based on their test performance/score. Performing well consists of many variables such as time management, understanding the question (knowledge), problem-solving and primarily confidence. Many students may have the knowledge to answer the questions, but under exam conditions and pressure, can find it difficult. This is where Mammoth Learning can assist a child by providing them with the skills and strategy to tackle exams head on.
Tests we prepare your child for:
NAPLAN (Years 3, 5, 7 & 9) | OC (Year 3) | Selective Entry (Year 6) | HSC (Year 12) | School Based Exams (K to 12) | Tutors Liverpool
Diagnostic Test
Discovering creative ways to measure what students understand and can perform – and converting these findings into smart actionable and digestible advice for both students and parents.
Our Student Diagnostic Test can provide teachers and parents with valuable insight as to how their child may be performing at school and this includes strengths and weaknesses. By pinpointing these struggles and learning difficulties early, the more prepared we are towards preventing bad learning habits from developing.
Data collated from the test will equip our teachers and parents with technical knowledge in determining how to best approach this situation and bring out the best learning environment.
If you are a parent who is keen to understand their child’s academic needs on a granular level, then we highly recommend the Student Diagnostic Test. Early diagnosis is key to building life long learners with strong disciplinary thinking.
The test will generally operate for 30 minutes along with a short consultation to discuss findings with you and your child – Mammoth Learning Tutors Liverpool
Homework
At Mammoth Learning, we believe that learning should extend to both in and out of school hours. Because of this, we prepare our students with in-lesson Work Booklets as well as homework. What separates the high achievers with the norm, are those who develop a knack for studying i.e self-discipline. Confidence stems from performance and performance derives from practice. Homework is a great way to supplement what students learn at school and from tutoring, it puts theory to execution. Building confidence through repetition and practice can often lead to enhanced performance at school and more importantly in exams. We encourage parents to be as active as possible when it comes to homework as it is an easy way to keep track of their ongoing performance.
